Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is one of my favorite hands-on therapy and I got good results on my clients. What is Myo fascia? Myo means- muscle and Fascia means-band. Fascia surrounds and protects the tissues, tendon, bone and organ of the body. Researchers show that the fascia is like a muscle and it has the ability to contract and relax. It also plays an important role in joint motion and stability.

The therapist knows when Myofascial release is needed and it would be beneficial.Myofascia is soft and relaxed in its normal stage but when it gets inflamed it loses it pliability. Then the patient cannot move freely i.e. a tension throughout the body.

If the muscle is being entrapped in the connective tissue it makes the muscle feel a lot less flexible. To clarify, the layers of muscles are not freely moving in their plane, but instead, a little bit bound together.

The Myofascial release is slow moving hands on therapy and the patient will get a dragging feel. In some situations, the patient will feel the burning or cooling sensation when the tissues relax. After this hand on therapy, there will be a marked change in the range of movement. This therapy has been successfully used in Low back pain, neck stiffness, sports injuries and much more.

The therapist only knows when and how to do the technique effectively. This treatment will last mininum15 minutes and will increase depend upon the condition. The treatment session will vary depends on the case. However, the general rule is the practitioner will explain the treatment plan and duration during your first treatment session. Its is important that the patient should give feedback about the pressure tolerance to the practitioner during the therapy.

Myofascial pain syndrome is a condition in the musculoskeletal because of the trigger points. Most of the patients who have chronic pain are owing to the trigger points.
What is trigger point? Trigger point is a hyper irritable spot located in a taught band of skeletal muscle. Whenever the muscle gets inflamed the trigger point will produce local pain and discomfort.

In my opinion it’s better to drink water after the Myofascial release therapy. During the therapy toxins can be moved out of areas where they are trapped and it’s good to flush those toxins out of your system. Moreover this, you can do apply hot pack at home- not more than 15 minutes.

Myofascial release is directly doing on patient with out oil or powder then only the therapist can easily find out the fascial restrictions and can apply the sustained amount of pressure to do the technique.
