Rehabilitation using Virtual Reality (V.R)

Nowadays the rehabilitation teams are widely using the virtual reality for gaining good results. Scientific reports in recent years show that the V.R helps to restore the efficiency in the paralyzed limb in patients after stroke.

The patients who are all trying to recover from cerebrovascular problems have some difficulties to move their limbs owing to the brain injuries. In my perception, the combination of virtual reality and physiotherapy will give a chance to the patients to mobile the involved limb. Why virtual reality is more effective because the physiotherapists are engaging the patient’s  brain and movement at a time.we can use the virtual reality in a secure and challenging environment by this way virtual reality helps to motor re-education and neuroplasticity. Moreover, V.R is considered as a possible strategy for intervention and an alternative complement to conventional exercises.

Unlike the past, the entertainment industries are developing more video games at low cost, making these gadgets the more accessible to therapist and patients.Therapist adopted some of the video games and designed for the patients to fulfill their rehabilitation goals. Recent studies proved that the application of V.R in rehabilitation is very useful in the recovery of upper limbs. It seems that the patients who use the computer assistance during rehabilitation are getting a good result from others.

There are several factors for helping the patient to interact with images and V.R objects.  The desktop monitor, haptic interfaces and head mounted display are playing a major role in the virtual rehabilitation treatment.

The research conducted at a university in Washington shows that the V.R combination rehabilitation has an awesome recovery and the deficits are also less compare to other patients. In my point of view, why the prognosis is more because while during V.R activities patient's psychological, physical and cognitive benefits are included.
